When the First House Haunts You: Why the Right REALTOR® Makes All the Difference

If you caught my last post, Is Your House Haunted—or Just in Need of a Little TLC? you know that sometimes the scariest moments in real estate don’t involve ghosts… they happen during a home inspection.

For one of my recent buyers, that lesson hit close to home (pun intended).

We had a beautiful property under contract, but when inspection day came, it revealed more tricks than treats—major structural issues, moisture concerns, and repairs that would have cost tens of thousands. Instead of trying to force a fit, we made the tough call to walk away.

That’s where having the right REALTOR® really matters. Buying a home is emotional, and it’s easy to fall in love with a house that just isn’t the right one. My role is to help my clients step back, look at the facts, and make the smart move—not just the fast one.

The Happy Ending 🎉

Quail Ridge Buyer Closing

We got right back out there and found the one—a beautifully renovated all-brick ranch in Raleigh’s Midtown area with a finished basement and an entertainer’s dream backyard. This home had everything they were looking for: character, space, location, and peace of mind.

And after a smooth closing, my clients can now enjoy life in one of Raleigh’s most sought-after neighborhoods—minutes from North Hills and the Raleigh Racquet Club—with zero haunting inspection surprises.

Moral of the Story: Don’t Go House Hunting Alone

Whether it’s navigating tricky inspections, negotiating repairs, or spotting red flags before you fall for them, having an experienced REALTOR® in your corner makes all the difference.

The Raleigh market moves fast, but you don’t have to rush into the wrong home. I’ll help you find a place that fits your life, your budget, and your peace of mind—no ghost stories required.

Selling a luxury home takes more than just putting a sign in the yard. From strategic pricing and staging to professional photography and targeted marketing, it requires a thoughtful approach—and the right agent to lead the way.

Recently, I’ve had the privilege of listing and selling several standout homes over $600,000, including homes in Renaissance Park and Midtown. Another stunning property in Raleigh’s Lakemont community is currently under contract and moving quickly toward closing.

BarbeClaus Has Come to North Hills: The BBQ Lab is Now Open

The Triangle is known for having good BBQ and I like to think of myself as a little bit of a BBQ connoisseur. When I heard the news The BBQ Lab—known outside of North Hills as The Redeck BBQ Lab —was opening at 4120 Main at North Hills Street, I had to help spread the word.
