The Rialto Theatre has been a fixture in Raleigh’s Five Points neighborhood for decades. However, the theater’s story took a turn when its longtime owner, Bill Peebles, announced his retirement in 2022. It was then that Hayes Permar and his team stepped in to revitalize this beloved venue. What makes Hayes the perfect custodian of the Rialto’s legacy? Well, for one, he’s no stranger to the City of Oaks, having grown up here and spent countless hours in the Rialto watching films on the big screen. His deep connection to the theater and the city’s history is evident in his dedication to preserving its unique charm.
The Soft Return and Exciting Lineup
The Rialto Theatre made its soft return in July, hosting Women’s World Cup watch parties, which served as a delightful teaser of what’s to come. And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is just around the corner. This marks the first time live music will reverberate through the Rialto Theatre since the early 2000s. The lineup spans multiple genres, ensuring there’s something for every music enthusiast in Raleigh. From the soulful rhythms of R&B to the foot-tapping melodies of bluegrass and even a classical holiday show, the Rialto promises a diverse and unforgettable musical experience.
