Happy National Barbecue Month!

Who’s ready to pig out for National Barbecue Month?! I know I am! A self-described Raleigh foodie, I love any excuse to eat at all my favorite local restaurants—especially all the great barbecue joints around here!

My friends at Raleigh Magazine did a fantastic roundup of Triangle-area barbecue restaurants just in time for what’s arguably one of the greatest months of the year. Check out some of my favorite spots from the list below!

Picnic

Pitmaster Wyatt Dickson’s droolworhty barbecue is worth the drive to Durham alone. You can’t beat the NC whole hog barbecue sandwich with a side of hush puppies and collards! It’s the tastiest form of tradition.

Sam Jones BBQ

This newly opened barbecue restaurant from acclaimed pitmaster Sam Jones has already become a favorite of mine for a midday lunch downtown. I love the crispy skins he integrates into his chopped barbecue—and don’t even get me started on the cornbread. So good!

Ole Time Barbecue

This joint’s been around a long time and it lives up to its slogan of being “a great place to get porked!” Besides the amazing barbecue, Ole Time’s service and neighborly community feel really make this place stand out in my eyes.

Lawrence Barbecue

We’ve been counting down the days for Jake Wood’s highly anticipated opening of Lawrence Barbecue at Boxyard RTP—and jumping at every opportunity to get our hands on one of his amazing sandos when he pops up at a local bar or restaurant. It’s only a matter of a time before the brick-and-mortar officially opens and we can chow down on barbecue sandwiches, mac and cheese, and more whenever we want!

Well, I don’t know about y’all, but I think I’m in need of a barbecue sandwich now. Check out the rest of Raleigh Mag‘s local barbecue faves by reading the full story on their website!
