Starting the Year with Gratitude—and Giving Back
As we kick off a new year, it feels right to pause, reflect, and focus on what truly matters—community, connection, and giving back.
Throughout 2025, I was grateful for opportunities to support organizations that strengthen our community in different but equally meaningful ways—from conservation and environmental stewardship through Raleigh Ducks Unlimited, to food security via Interfaith Food Shuttle at the Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar Turkey Ball. Each experience reinforced the importance of showing up locally, supporting trusted organizations, and giving where it can make a tangible difference. These moments of giving reflect the values that guide my work and relationships, and they’re a foundation I’m proud to carry forward into the year ahead.
For the past few years, I’ve skipped traditional printed holiday cards. Instead, I invite my clients to do something far more meaningful: nominate a local nonprofit they’re passionate about supporting. The response each year has been incredibly humbling. From recovery programs and ALS research to homeless pets and youth initiatives, the nominations reflect the wide range of causes close to the hearts of the people I’m grateful to work with.
For our 2025 end-of-year ask, there were so many impactful nominations that choosing just one felt impossible. So, to start 2026 on a positive note, I’m proud to support two outstanding local nonprofits making a real difference right here in our community.
SPCA of Wake County
The SPCA of Wake County is a well-established, independent nonprofit that has served Wake County for decades. Known for its commitment to animal welfare, the organization focuses not only on rescuing and rehoming animals, but also on prevention—through spay and neuter programs, education, and community outreach. Their work helps thousands of animals each year find safe, loving homes while reducing pet homelessness across the region. It’s a trusted organization with deep local roots, and one that many of you were passionate about supporting.
Shepherd Youth Ranch
Shepherd Youth Ranch represents a truly special kind of impact. This Raleigh-based nonprofit rescues abused and neglected horses and retrains them to work alongside veterans, individuals with special needs, at-risk youth, and families navigating challenging circumstances. Through equine-assisted programs, Shepherd Youth Ranch creates powerful opportunities for healing, confidence-building, and connection—for both people and horses. The transformation that happens on the ranch is profound, and contributions directly support hands-on, life-changing work.
Looking Ahead
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to share a nonprofit close to their heart. Your recommendations are a reminder of how much good is happening in our community—and how meaningful it can be when we support it together.
As we move forward into 2026, my hope is to continue this tradition and find even more ways to give back alongside the people I serve. Thank you for being part of it.
